Dear Franklin Families,

This is your Franklin Elementary School update for August 29-September 2, 2022.

School Site Council (SSC)

Please vote for 2024-24 School Site Council’s parent members. We have two open positions this year for our ten-member council. SSC has ten members - three teachers, one classified staff member, one administrator, and five parents. 

School Site Council is an elected body of parents, teachers, and school staff who work together to review and evaluate Franklin’s academic program.  The Council is composed of the principal, one other staff person, three classroom teachers, and five parents. Members serve two-year terms.  

Parents listed on this ballot were self-nominated and have agreed to attend School Site Council meetings.  These meetings are held throughout the school year on the following dates: September 13, 2022; November 1, 2022; December 6, 2022; January 31, 2023; March 6, 2023.

All members of the community are welcome to join our SSC. Please use this ballot to elect parent representatives to the School Site Council. Please vote for two candidates.

Escuela Primaria Franklin

Balota de Votación de Padres Concilio Escolar 2022-24

El Concilio Escolar es un grupo elegido de padres, maestros y miembros del personal que trabajan juntos en el repaso y evaluación del programa académico de la Escuela Primaria Franklin.  El Concilio consiste de una directora, un miembro del personal escolar, cinco  maestros y cinco padres.    

Los padres anotados en esta balota se auto nominaron y están dispuestos en asistir a las reuniones mensuales del Concilio Escolar. Las reuniones se conducen en: Septiembre 13, 2022; Noviembre 1, 2022; Diciembre 6, 2022; Enero 31, 2023; Marzo 6, 2023.

Por favor utilicen esta balota para votar por los padres representantes del Concilio Escolar. Pueden votar por dos candidatos.

Parent Volunteers Needed! 

Ben Franklin’s 100 Mile Club is excited to begin their Monday morning runs in September. We need parents to volunteer during this run. The Monday morning runs will be from 8:00 to 8:20. Volunteers will need to arrive ahead of time to check in at the office. If you are interested in helping with the runs, please email Ms. Gaudio at [email protected]  

Parking Lot Reminders

Thank you for taking the time to carefully drive through our parking lot. As a reminder, the small bus loop is for families of students with Mrs. Drew and Ms. Mendoza. Daycare vans may park on the red curb only. This area is not for families to pick up their children.

No Dogs on Campus

We are dog lovers at heart, but cannot permit dogs on campus. Please leave your furry friends at home when you come to pick up and drop off. We appreciate your consideration!

Any Refrigerators Out There?

Our staff refrigerator is out of order. If you have a spare (old and loved will work!) we would be happy to give it a new home.

Power of Bilingualism Workshop

Our Parent Center will host two workshops on August 30, 2022 at 6:00 p.m. in Spanish and Mandarin followed by a cultural potluck. Join us!


PTA Information: Please continue to use our Ben Franklin Elementary PTA website for information and to contact us. Also, don't forget to follow us on Facebook and Instagram to get the most up-to-date information!

PTA Membership Reminder: If you haven't signed up for PTA membership you can still do so right here at our website or by scanning the QR code on the sandwich board outside of the office or the QR code off the membership flyer that came home with your child(ren) during their first week of school! Remember that the upper and lower grade classroom that achieves the highest level of paid memberships, by Sept 9th, will receive a classroom pizza party, courtesy of the PTA! Which classrooms are going to win the pizza party?!

Sponsorships: PTA is looking for business sponsorships this year! See this flyer for more information on how your business can work together with Ben Franklin Elementary School. 

Where is the Spirit Wear: PTA is working on improving the service of Spirit Wear sales to you. Stay tuned for more details within the next couple of weeks! Exciting changes are coming soon!

Fall is Coming: ⏰ IT’S TIME ⏰  Registration is now open for our Lightning Fun Run Fundraiser, kicking off on 9/7. Our goal is to raise $25,000 for Accelerated Reader, Playground Supplies, Assemblies, Field Trips, Art in the Classrooms, and more! Registering is easy and free!

Reflections Information: Time to get working on your Reflections submissions! This year’s theme is Show Your Voice! We can’t wait to see what our Lightning Bolts create this year! We will hold an information session via zoom on September 7th at 6pm to answer questions.
