Cellphones and Electronics

At Benjamin Franklin, we are committed to promoting digital literacy, digital citizenship, and digital responsibility. Students are equipped with devices in order to explore, connect, create and learn in new ways. Students will be held accountable for their behavior with and use of technology. Parents and students are responsible for reviewing and understanding the following information.

Digital Citizenship and Responsibilities:
Students will not engage in any type of “Cyberbullying” including the transmission of harassing, threatening, or otherwise harmful text, sounds, or images
Students will not attempt to use an account they are not authorized to use.
- Students will not go to sites that are inappropriate.- Students will only engage in assigned/ approved activities and will stay on task when on their device.- Students will keep their passwords to themselves. - Students will follow the CNUSD Board Policy and Administrative Regulations 8510, 8520, 8540, and 8560. CNUSD policies 8520 and 8540 are filled out as part of registration each year.

Care of Devices: Chromebooks are a tool for school learning. 
- Students will be expected to bring their fully charged device to school each day unless instructed otherwise by their teacher.
Students will not have devices outside the classroom (e.g., lunch benches, playground, grass area, pick-up)- Students will follow care directions given when they received their device, including:
- No liquids near devices
No stickers or skins on devices
Do not touch LCD screen
Open and close device gently- do not open past 90°

Discipline Policy

Discipline for not following the above expectations may include (but are not limited to):
Requiring that school device be kept at school
After school detention
Assignments will be completed without a device
